Kiss And Make Up was released 35 years ago today.

“We were drinking buddies with Michael from the Field Mice. I was even their manager for about ten minutes. Kiss And Make Up was on their first album, Snowball, and was initially recorded the same evening as Only Love Can Break Your Heart, with Moira Lambert on vocals and Harvey Williams on guitar and bass.”

“This was our second single, with Donna Savage from the band Dead Famous People - who we were fans of - singing. We hadn’t met Sarah by this point and had the idea of recording with different vocalists on every release. We had yet to write any proper songs at this point - Sky’s Dead the B-Side shows the level of our prowess then! The title of which was inspired by a line from Neighbours which we must have had on in the studio”

Teenage Daydream

Our very own @debseyonbass has her memoir published this Thursday 25th September.
‘Teenage Daydream’ is Debsey’s account of her time in the all girl band Dolly Mixture and is available from @newmodernbooks

To celebrate the launch, Monorail Music will be hosting a special event on Wednesday 1st October in the Mono Cafe Bar, 12 Kings Court, King Street, Glasgow.
Debsey will be in conversation with Jenny Rollo along with a rare screening of Paul Kelly’s Dolly Mixture documentary ‘Take Three Girls’. Matthew Rich will be creating live screen prints throughout the evening with Stephen Pastel DJing. Tickets available on the link in the bio.

‘International’ has charted at number 8 in this week’s UK Top 40.
With a host of new LPs released last week it was a highly competitive chart that sees Saint Etienne in the Top Ten for the first time since the 1990s.

We’d like to thank each and every one of you who bought physical copies, downloaded and streamed the album - it means the world to us and we’re so grateful for your support.

Oh what a night!!

Wow, Rough Trade East you really did us proud last night.

In spite of the tube strike the room was sold out and packed to the rafters.

Familiar faces and new ones too, it was great to chat with so many of you.

Don’t forget to tune in to the Lauren Laverne show on BBC 6 Music this morning where we’ll be in session for three songs with special guests Janet Planet from Confidence Man and Jez Williams from Doves.

Following the session we’re off to Rough Trade Nottingham for a signing tonight - this has been a lot of fun already.

It feels strange releasing our final LP today but we really hope you like it.
